Jimmy Wax has been spinning tunes now for around 9 years. And has been a part of the TnG crew for many of these years.
He started out his love affair with turntables at the same youth centre as Dangamouse many moons ago in his homeboy years! Hip hop has always been his first love but he became more involved in the dance scene as he was being surrounded by these “types” on a daily basis. Progressing to Techno, drum n Bass and eventually the mighty bass heavy breaks he has never stopped searching for brilliant tunes that brings either a smile to his face or a shake to his ass!
He was lucky enough to take part in many Tongue n Groove events over the past few years including nights in Universal, Basura Blanca, The Art School, The Archies and The Soundhaus. He was also a co presenter on the weekly Tongue n Groove show on Subcity radio for 2 years running! Shows which led to appearances at the legendary Subcity Bloc parties providing beats for friends the mighty Flying Jalepenos Breakdance crew. Jimmywax also blessed the tables in many Glasgow bars such as Brunswick Cellars, Variety bar, Bar Gaudi, Yello and Mchuiills. As well as playing the great Rock the Bells New year parties at Carnival Arts centre.
However in the past 12 months Jimmywax has departed Glasgow to start a new life with his good lady down under in sunny Melbourne, Australia. Already he has started his first residency at the Elwood Lounge in Melbourne playing funk, soul and hip hop breaks. He is beggining to make contacts down under and hopes to get a TnG club night operational in the next few years as well as a radio show! So watch this space for further news from down under and of course mixes and charts from upside down land!
