Jimmy Wax has finally secured his first residency down under at the Elwood Lounge in Melbourne!

With a few trial gigs under his belt he blew the crowd away with his mix of funk, soul and hip hop classics, winning himself a weekly spot at the Elwood Lounge. Every friday night beginning friday the 13th of July Jimmywax will be blessing the turntables from 8:30 til late. The Elwood Lounge well known for its live performance status took a chance on Jimmy and it seems to be paing off. So much so that he has already secured the New Years eve gig there and he is seriously looking forward to that!

So wherever you are in the world if you happen to be passing through Melbourne anytime soon, drop in and check the vibe and it wont cost you a thing as this gig costs nothing every week! Even the new years party! Tongue n Groove about to take over!

A Jimmy Wax mix has been a long time coming since his last contribution on this site but it has finally arrived. Funkin Brilliant Vol. 1 is part one of a series of funk, soul and general brilliant compilations about to come your way! Jimmy has been digging this scene quite heavily over the past year or so and it forced him to make this mix! Its full of grade a material, if you dont dig this type of music you need to be taken out back and shot! Or something like dat! This mix was a decisive factor in Jimmy Wax obtaining his weekly residency down under at the Elwood Lounge in Melbourne.

This is just the start of a flurry of mixes from Jimmywax over the next few months. Next mix up will be his long (long) awaited breaks mix, followed by a recording of his excellent Subcity Bloc Party mix he played in 2006. Then we move on to the techno mix! Although his musical style has evolved Gareth has always followed the darker side. Even back when he started off playing house some 7 years ago it was still the evil, twisted tunes that attracted him. From house he moved to breaks then from there has taken dubstep onboard for a mix of sick and bass heavy breakbeats.

Currently Gareth holds down a residency at Curves in Newcastle-upon-Tyne where he warms the crowd up every month before the night switches to DnB. The night has just moved to a new venue and celebrated its 6th birthday… the future looks bright! Gareth is also a regular at other nights such as Freaky Dancing and also on the free party circuit around the North-East.

YES its true!

Dangamouse & Jimmy Wax have packed up and set sail for new lifes in far off lands. Dangamouse now resides in Vancouver BC, and is all set to show the Canucks some bass heavy beats, while Jimmy Wax has made the trek down under to Melbourne, where he’ll be teaching the aussies how to juggle beats, bass and a bucket of chicken.

Although now on different continents the boys will still be keeping involved with all things Tongue’n'Groove, and promoting the name in there new homelands. So watch out as Tongue’n'Groove goes international!

Going way down into the murky depths of the frequency spectrum, Vertical Sound has established itself as one of the U.Ks top labels, releasing tunes by 30Hz, Circuitbreaker, Kraymon, Smithmonger & Moving Ninja to name but a few.

Taking influences from techy drum & bass, electro & hip hop of his native Washington U.S.A, 30Hz has released music on several top breaks imprints including Supercharged, Satamile & Cyberfunk and his forthcoming work on Lot49 promises to confirm his standing as one of the true pioneers of the Breakbeat scene.
